Flora Mcmurtrie

Flora McMurtrie is a freelance contemporary dance artist and researcher based in South East London. Graduating from Falmouth University in 2016 with a First Class BA(Hons) in Dance and Performance and later gaining a Masters in Theatre Practices from ArtEz University, Flora has nurtured her interest in live and online performance.

Her research throughout her MA was based around performer-audience relationships and the notion of bodily autonomy in online performance spaces; working through mediums such as live-streaming and studio-based audio visual installations.

Flora works in mediums such as dance film and live performance, and is a versatile performer that can rely on her experience in practice-based research to enhance the work she creates. She has performed at venues such as The Place and Sadlers Wells and continues to grow her performance and dramaturgical experiences, and is currently curating an artistic zine based around practices of presence during a global pandemic. 

Flora joins Bakani Pick-Up Company as our resident Dramaturg.
